Dignitary Stylish ‎– Jah Send Me Come [1986]

This is another Wilfred Limonious album cover. This time, Limonious lends his artistic skills to ‘Jah Send Me Come’ an album released by the wonderfully named Dignitary Stylish in 1986 on Harmodio Records.

Its a sad fact that Dignitary Stylish has become a bit forgotten over the years, as this is a great album full of classic 80s dancehall toasting.

It is pretty wonderful album art too with hand drawn border and logo by Limonious used to frame a great photo of a young looking Dignitary Stylish. This is far removed from the excess and riches that would dominate dancehall album covers in the 90s with Dignitary Stylish presented in simple clothing holding his staff.

The rear cover is equally as arresting. A full Limonious drawing showing Dignitary Stylish standing on a hill-top crushing a serpent underfoot.

Lively Body - Various Artists [1986]

This is another one rhythm excursion album. ‘Lively Body’ was released in 1986 on Music Master Records and was produce by Whitfield ‘Witty’ Henry.

The album artwork was created and design by Orville ‘Bagga’ Case. Got to admit, it isn’t as good as some of his other works and lacks his usual flair and kinetic style – still, nice touch on the ‘red, gold, and green’ leggings and legwarmers combination.

The album is a showcase for the “Lively Body” riddim, which was basically Whitfield ‘Witty’ Henry’s updated version of the Heavenless / Greetings riddim.

Body Come Down 1986

Body Come Down‘ is a compilation of dancehall hits that was released in 1986 on Weed Beat Records.

The cover was designed and created by Jethro “Paco” Dennis, who has a style not unlike Wilfred Limonious when it comes to hand-drawn and cartoonish covers. Jethro “Paco” Dennis was almost as prolific as Limonious and he created covers for a multitude of labels including Firehouse, Shocking Vibes, VP Records etc..

A solid collection of mid-80s digital reggae.
