Another great video session from ‘partytime.fr’ – this time it’s a very smiley Linval Thompson in the studio singing ‘I Love Marijuana’ and ‘Train to Zion':
Linval Thompson isn’t afraid of tasking risks for his art – look at the way he’s precariously balanced himself between those trees at least 2 feet off the ground, all in the name of album artwork. He could have scuffed his knee!
This came out in 1980 on Micron records and still maintains a classic roots style with some nice tunes. It’s a nice warm album cover that is totally devoid of any rasta imagery and looks more like something from a classic 60s Motown album cover.
Pretty hard to find the actual album now, but tracks from it are available on various compilation albums.
1 Danger in your eyes
2 Stay a little bit longer
3 Jumping for joy
4 Skillful man
5 Lion and tiger
6 If I follow my heart
7 My babe
8 Give me a chance
9 Big oppressor
10 Don’t try to lose me
Most of this album can be found on the Linval Thompson compilation called ‘Don’t Cut Off Your Dreadlocks’
A great 12″ cut of the title track was released that also featured Trinity:
